About the Artist:

Sam Ames was born in San Diego, California in 1946. He attended San
Diego State University (then San Diego State College) and received his
undergraduate degree in 1970. He then moved with his bride, the former
Marilyn Stone, to Wisconsin to study art at the University in Madison.
After completing his MFA in 1973 he began his 33 year career of teaching
at Rhode Island College in Providence. He is now retired, professor
emeritus and in the process of moving back to his family home in San
Diego. Ames has shown nationally and is available for commissions.
